As the Hungarian transmission system operator, MAVIR is responsible for the operation of the electricity system in Hungary, for the security of supply, i.e. for maintaining the balance of electricity generation, trade and consumption at any given moment. MAVIR provides longer-term forecasts, daily and intraday schedules of generation, trade and consumption. Its tasks include the operation, development and maintenance of the transmission network and the operation of the electricity market. In cooperation with the distribution system operators, MAVIR annually prepares medium and long-term plans for the development of the transmission infrastructure to maintain the security of supply.
